ISBN 978-1948629041

This is book 3 in the series, but chronologically it is actually book 1.  This is a stand-alone book and does not need to be read in order.

When someone you love vanishes, how far would you go to get them back?

Young girls are disappearing in groups of three, their bodies callously discarded by a killer whose methods stun even the most seasoned detectives. Agent Skeeter Perkins is a world-renowned profiler. He’s been with the FBI for over a decade and has made a name for himself catching the worst serial killers known to man. His current case, a man the media has dubbed the “Scientist” is no different. But, when Perkins and his team start to close in, the stakes become personal. Skeet must put everything on the line as he plunges headlong into the most desperate hunt of his life.

    Suspense, action, and raw emotion

This book has it all: suspense, action, and raw emotion all packed into one book.

If you have read the previous books in the series, you will recognise the main characters of the Coopers and Perkins, but this time we meet them years before their lives in Mount Haven. Here they are younger, and we see how they met and formed a team to deal with one of the defining moments in their crime-fighting lives: the ordeal of Angela Perkins.

The book is well-written and keeps you going right to the end. There are heart-lurching moments as you read through the sadistic predilections of the killer, but also moments of warmth with the friendship forming in the team.

It is fast-paced, but with a ready, accessible style that makes it easy to get your teeth into. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommended.
