A little about yourself (ie your education Family life etc )

I’ve been a nurse for over thirty years, working in both medical and psychi-atric hospitals. However, I’ve always wanted to write and publish a book. I absolutely love reading and wanted to give others some of the same pleas-ures that I have enjoyed. Several of my flash fiction pieces have been pub-lished in various e-zines, as well as an essay for the anthology Lessons From My Parents, by Michele Robbins.

Tell us your latest news?

I’m excited to announce that my first book, Discover New Authors & Great Reads, was just published in May, 2015.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I wanted to promote authors whose writing I considered to be outstanding, especially indie authors. So I gathered up 35 of my reviews from mostly in-die authors’ books and started putting together my own.

How did you come up with the title?

That was easy. The title explains exactly what my book is about. Discover New Authors & Great Reads.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Yes, read indie authors. They are new voices, with fresh ideas. And don’t forget to leave a review, especially if you have enjoyed the book.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

Neil McFarlane. He is a children’s indie author who offered to proofread my book at no cost. I really appreciated his help and was touched by his offer.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Yes, I’m currently researching and gathering information for my next book. I think the focus of it will be on happiness and living a positive life. I’ve worked in the psychiatric field for the past twelve years, and I’ve seen just how sadness, guilt and self-loathing can ruin people’s lives. I want to do my piece in helping others find happiness.

Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

Not yet, but I’ll be retiring soon, and traveling will be a big part of my life. I plan on adding some of my travel experiences to my writing.

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

Yes, writing and publishing a book is a lot of work! Much more than I ever expected.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Don’t give up.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Read indie authors’ books and don’t forget to leave a review. Every author puts a tremendous amount of effort into their work, and they truly appreciate it when a reader takes the time to review their book.
